The benefits of Bone Broth

FIND OUT MORE ABOUT THIS LIQUID GOLD AND WHY IT’S IMPORTANT EVEN IN THE WARMER MONTHS.

The warmer months are upon us and I for one am so excited for summer!  As it warms up it’s normal to go for more cooling drinks and food, and we notice in the cafe our immune boosting cold press juices become more popular. It’s also at this time of the year I remind myself of the health benefits of bone broth and that it can warm the soul all year long.

This liquid gold is what our great great grandmothers made and they knew what they were doing!  Bone broth supports strong immunity, promotes healthy digestive system and promotes repair of our skeletal system along with the benefits for skin, hair, nails as well as the nervous system.

All this support is from the richness of nutrients including collagen and gelatin - as long as it’s made in the correct way. You may see many different forms of ‘bone broth’ being sold in stores, but beware some are not as good as others, and don’t have the high nutritional content of authentic bone broth.

There are many factors that contribute to a high nutrient-dense bone broth, including the type of frames or carcasses being used in the broth, as well as the amount of heat and length of time it’s cooked for.

HOW DO YOU USE AND INGEST BONE BROTH?

There are lots of different ways you can incorporate bone broth into your everyday routine. First of all, you can simply enjoy a hot cup of broth, on its own. Here at the cafe we have our house-made chicken bone broth always available.

You can also flavour bomb your hot cup of broth with Young Living essential oils like ginger, pepper, lemon or lemongrass. You can also add chilli flakes or fish sauce for an asian flare.

You can also use broth as a base for soups. I use it in pumpkin, veggie, pea and ham, carrot and ginger along with any other soup that I make. I also add it to most dishes that I cook, whether it’s mince, and of course anytime a recipe calls for ‘stock’ make sure you’re using a quality, nutrient-dense bone broth to get the highest nutritional value out of your meals.

WHAT ABOUT IN THE WARMER SUMMER MONTHS?

If you are wanting a more summer version of ways to use broth there are amazing creative ways to do so.  At the cafe we have frozen bone broth cubes (which are taste-free) that we add to number of our smoothies to boost up their nutritional value.

We also stock Star Anise Organic Wholefoods organic broth cubes, available in our freezer section for you to take home and use in your own smoothies or cooking. We stock plain beef broth, beef and spinach (cooked spinach blended with beef broth and frozen ready to use) and beef and liver cubes, which are great to add to meals for that extra nutrient dense vitamins and iron.

Another great option in summer are ‘brothsicles’ which are also available at the cafe. These no-guilt ice blocks are infused with unsalted signature organic beef broth to boost their nutrient-density (and don’t worry when frozen beef broth is completely tasteless) .and come is 4 flavours - Raw Cacao, Mango, Raw Cacao and Mint and Mixed Berry. These are great for the kids too!

WHAT DO WE SELL AT THE CAFE?
